Bad Girls: Sliding in

Getting into the club/bar is typically the most important part, but sometime shit happens... My homegirl wrote a quick little essay on a minor mistake she and many, many others make everyday.

Living in the glorious city of Los Angeles girls are almost conditioned at a young age to look and act older in every sense of the word. This brings up a hot topic: Fake IDs. I had one, my mom had one, and now working in the bar industry my personal opinion of the subject has changed. Having a fake ID was great, until it wasn’t anymore.

I was 20 at the time, revving up for a trip to Vegas with my mom… An early 21st birthday present. My co-worker at the time took me to a shady neighborhood in Downtown LA. We found a random guy in a parking lot and he walked us to the back of a swap-meet. $50 and a half hour later my “fabulous” new fake ID was done and in my hand, and boy was it bad.

At this point in time I had already become a regular at several bars and clubs. No one questioned my age, and not only had I befriended all of the staff that I was constantly deceiving, I was putting their business in continuous jeopardy. Eventually I got caught. Of course I did, because once you get too comfortable you always get caught. I got 86’d (banned) from most of these establishments and all those people I had befriended wanted nothing to do with me. I was THAT douchebag.

In my mind, I did the right thing by getting an ID made with my information on it  and not posing as someone else aka: identity theft. Yes, impersonating someone else without their permission for personal gain to commit fraud is indeed identity theft. Posing as someone over the age of 21 in order to consume alcohol is technically fraud. Crazy, I know. Young people often think that using someone else’s real ID is harmless, you know a part of growing up. What we all seem to forget that there could be serious consequences. I was lucky enough to not get my DUI until I was 22. Believe me if you party, it will happen. I had a couple of close calls underage but was never actually arrested.

Bottom line, you get arrested for drunk driving underage you get your license taken away, period. You give those officers pulling you over your fake ID, not only do you get your DUI, but you can also be persecuted for wrongful impersonation: aka identity theft. Now you’re in hot water, and now you are THAT douchebag. Not only do your driving privileges get taken away, you’re now in trouble for pretending to be someone else, and remember that bar that you went to with that ID where you were having a fantastic time before getting pulled over is now in even more hot water than you are.
When you get pulled over for DUI, the officers will always ask where you’re coming from. Always.

Why you ask? It is against the law to serve persons who are visibly drunk and chances are if you’re getting pulled over, you were over served. The bar gets a serious fine for each incident.

How does this effect you? If a bar gets a certain number of these fines they get their liquor license taken away. It’s a snowball effect. Getting a liquor license back is a lot more expensive than getting your drivers license back that’s for sure.

“Oh bouncers just throw them away when they confiscate the fake IDs” – not entirely true. Depending on the place, they either resell them and pocket the cash, or actually turn them into the police station like they’re supposed to.

Bottom line: it is illegal to pose as someone else. Period. No matter what it’s for. If you do feel a need to go out drinking under age, go get an ID made and support your local gangs. That’s where that money goes. Yay Gangs!

I never really thought of the potential consequences of my actions back then, and if you’re currently doing the same thing, you probably don’t either. Be careful out there kids, and for a second consider how your actions could potentially effect those around you. Don’t believe me on all this? Here’s some links for more information. Or you can just Google like a normal human being.

I really hope her words stick or at least give you a new perspective on the subject.

Things to make me slutty: Haul 1

Some times when I get a little stressed or sad I like to go to CVS and wonder the beauty isles. After a rather rough week, last night I wondered. Of course I had to pick up a few things most are new to me or repeat purchases.

From left to right: CVS oil free acne face wipes, Freeman's acai clay mask, 2 packs of Biore pore strips (I can never have enough of these), L'oreal sublime bronze, Maybelline color whisper in Rose of atraction, Covergirls Lashblast, Revlon scented nail polish in African rose tea, and a Milani lip pencil in Neutral... Also pictured is a bat ring I got today to Kat Von D's shop Wonderland.

My homegirl got a slightly bigger one. Hers has skulls around the edge.  Wonderland has the cutest dressing room. I wish I had a picture to show, but if you go or have ever been you'll know what I mean.  Also pictured is the Revlon scented polish on my long claws.

I'm already obsessed with the lipstick and lip liner I picked up, but I'll write reviews for some of the other stuff soon.

Friday Firsts:

Hey there,

Since this is all new I thought I would kick off with a commitment: every other Friday I'll do a little review on a new product I'm using. As a bit of a shopping addict that shouldn't be too difficult.

As this is the first week I figure I should start at the top, Shampoo. Ichikami moisture shampoo to be exact.

I have always had a bit of an obsession with Asian products and living near an Asian market doesn't do anything but feed this love. So when I ran out of shampoo it was only natural to stop by on my way home from work. I was instantly drawn in by the scent of this, a light floral of apricot and cherry blossom. It also was decently priced at $14.99 USD for its size.

Later that night I took my shower. I took two pumps and scrubbed it through my wet hair. To my surprise it created a HUGE lather, a little odd as it is parben and sulfate free which is typically the stuff that makes a large lather. Also odd as it normally take me two scrubs and rinses to get my hair clean. But heck, why knock it if it's working well and it seems like it will last me longer than a normal bottle does. As I scrubbed I also noticed I wasnt shedding as huge globs of broken and dead hair like I normally do. Super plus! My hair is so thin and damaged from coloring I can't afford to loose any more than the normal daily shedding.

The next morning when my hair was all dry, I brushed it and styled it for work. Again I wasn't loosing as much hair! It also made my hair smooth and shiny. Not as fly-away as it usually is but certainly not flat like some products make my stick straight thin hair.

If you are in need of a new shampoo soon you can pick this up at most Asian markets or you can buy it at www.sasa.com. I'm so glad I found this and I can't wait to see how it works in few more washes!

Dear Ladies,

It is so often us ladies are bombarded with images of women with their tongues hangen' out; I'm looking at you Miley, or their boobs hanging out of their shirts (nip slip) on tv or the Internet. We often forget what is deemed "appropriate " public behavior. Especially when in a bar or a club. A short dress is cute and sexy till you are stumbling about with it half way up your butt. This blog is my reflections and tips of social do's and don'ts for the bar/club scene mixed with a taste of my love for all things beauty and lifestyle.

I'm a mid twentys girl strolling my way through the LA Sunset Strip. During the day I work at a tech company and at night I'm a parent to a potbelly pig named Annie Hog and a Lab mix named Arya. I'm also the long time girlfriend to a sunset strip staple.

When I first set foot on the strip I was in the Viper Room. I knew I was meant to stay, even if I was underage at the time... Shhh. I attended a show for the band Warner Drive which was booked that night by my now boyfriend and his then business partner/ very good friend. It was both magic and my first taste of the horrible decorum that happens in bars.

Come watch how this journey unfolds.
